La considerazione del rapporto tra Direttorio per la catechesi (DC 2020) e Direttorio generale per la catechesi (DGC 1997) ha lo scopo di studiare come il DC consideri il DGC e come si rapporti al testo che lo ha preceduto. Ciò porta ad un articolato e analitico confronto testuale. Si arriva a mostrare che il DGC è citato espressamente dal DC per oltre una cinquantina di volte, e non come ornamento esteriore, ma come necessario punto di riferimento. Però, inevitabilmente, il DGC appare più povero nei contenuti. In una visione globale, già presente nella Guida e nell’Introduzione iniziali, la visione e l’impianto del DC non ignora, né emargina il DGC, ma afferma la novità nella continuità, come recita il titolo del contributo.

The consideration of the relationship between “Directory for Catechesis” (DC 2020) and “General Directory for Catechesis” (GDC 1997) has the scope of studying how DC considers GDC and how it relates itself to the text that has preceded it. That leads to an articulated and analytical textual comparison. We get to show that there is an explicit citation of the GDC over 40 times, and not merely as a peripheral embellishment but as necessary points of reference. However, inevitably, GDC appears a bit wanting in its content. In a global vision, already being present in the initial Guide (which is not present in the English version of the DC) and into the “Introduction”, the vision and rationale of DC does not ignore, nor sidelines GDC, but affirms the newness in continuity, as the title of this article states.
