Sommario
La riflessione sul rapporto tra etica e comunicazione è tra le tematiche più significative sia nell’ambito accademico odierno, sia sul piano sociale e morale. In essa i temi del buono, del bello e del vero svolgono un ruolo decisivo, tanto nel contesto dell’utilizzo dei new media quanto nella riscoperta delle potenzialità comunicative dell’essere umano. L’uomo è un “animale narrante”, esprime sé stesso mediante la sua fantasia e la capacità di raccontare storie creando mondi sconosciuti e terre lontane. Nel presente articolo si approfondiscono proprio questi argomenti: cosa accade quando lo strumento della comunicazione è un libro di narrativa fantastica? Può effettivamente esistere un’etica della letteratura fantastica? Per rispondere a queste domande si avrà come guida il saggio Sulle fiabe, scritto alla fine degli anni ’30 da uno dei protagonisti della letteratura del Novecento, J.R.R. Tolkien, autore de Lo Hobbit e Il Signore degli Anelli.

Abstract
Debate on the relationship between ethics and communication is one of the most significant issues both in today’s academic context and on the social and moral levels. In this context, the goodness, the beauty and the truth play a decisive role in the use of new media and in the rediscovery of the communicative potential of the human being. Man is a “narrating animal”, who expresses himself through his imagination and his ability to tell stories by creating unknown worlds and distant lands. In this essay we will deepen these topics: what happens when the tool of communication is a book of fantastic fiction? Can actually exist an ethics of fantastic literature? To give an answer we will use as a guide the essay On Fairy-Stories, written at the end of the 30s by one of the protagonists of Twentieth-century literature, J.R.R. Tolkien, the author of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.
