Lo studio, dopo aver richiamato alcuni dati del magistero e della riflessione teologica sul carisma fondazionale, descrive i tratti caratteristici dell’esperienza carismatica e spirituale di don Bosco in cui il carisma fondazionale delle Suore di carità di Gesù affonda le sue radici ad opera del venerabile don Vincenzo Cimatti e don Antonio Cavoli che sono all’origine della loro Congregazione. Ricostruisce poi le varie tappe che ne hanno segnato la progressiva configurazione: l’iniziale associazione femminile dedita a opere caritative (Figlie di Maria), il successivo gruppo di giovani riunite in una comunità apostolica stabile (Figlie della carità), poi la decisione della maggioranza delle Figlie della carità, su proposta di don Cavoli (in seguito a reiterato consiglio di don Cimatti) di dar vita a una nuova congregazione religiosa (Suore della carità) e infine l’effettiva nascita e il primo sviluppo della medesima dal 15 agosto 1937 al 1957.

This article, after referring to some facts of the Magisterium and the theological reflection on the charisma of the founder, describes the main characteristics of the charismatic and spiritual experience of Don Bosco, upon which the charisma of the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of Jesus was founded, and which originated from the work of the Venerable Don Vincenzo Cimatti and Don Antonio Cavoli. It reconstructs the various phases which accompanied its gradual development: the initial female association dedicated to works of charity (Daughters of Mary), the successive group of young women united in a stable apostolic community (Daughters of Charity) and then the decision by the majority of the Daughters of Charity, after the proposal of Don Cavoli and the advice given repeatedly by Don Cimatti, to create a new religious congregation (Sisters of Charity), and lastly its birth and development from August 1937 until 1957.
