Questo articolo illustra le motivazioni dei volontari nelle comunità cristiane impegnate nell’ambito del sostegno ai rifugiati e che hanno preso parte a un corso di consulenza pastorale. L’analisi di due interviste semi-strutturate indica i motivi dei volontari in base alle loro aspettative e alle loro esigenze personali. Sia la sig.ra X che il sig. Y si occupano dell’«altro» in termini di stereotipi culturali comuni, da un lato, e un senso di impotenza di fronte alle esperienze dei migranti, dall’altro. L’articolo giunge alla conclusione che vi è una mancanza di riflessione di base sulla natura dell’interculturalità nelle comunità cristiane.

This article presents insights into the motives of volunteers in Christian communities who are engaged in the field of support for refugees and have taken part in a course for pastoral counselling. The analysis of two semi-structured interviews indicates the individual motives of the volunteers according to their expectations and personal needs. Both Mrs X and Mr Y deal with “the other” in terms of common cultural stereotypes, on the one hand, and a sense of helplessness in the face of the migrants’ experiences, on the other. The article comes to the conclusion that there is a lack of basic reflection on the nature of interculturality in the Christian communities.
