Salesianum is the official Journal of the Salesian Pontifical University, which owns the Journal and publishes it quarterly. Founded in 1939, at the beginnging of Salesian Athenaeum in Turin, the journal has accompanied its research activities ever since, with a strong interdisciplinary character. Promoting a harmonious vision of knowledge, Salesianum is a qualified organ for scientific discussion, particularly in the fields of Philosophical and Theological disciplines.

Each issue of Salesianum is generally organized in these sections:

  • Dossier: a collection of studies on a specific theme, coordinated by one or more editors.
  • Studia: articles that provide an original scientific contribution within the journal's areas of interest.
  • Commentaria: shorter articles, presentations of relevant publications, debates, bibliographic reviews.
  • Recensiones: critical reviews of scientifically relevant volumes.

Salesianum has its own Code of Ethics, compliant with COPE Commettee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.

In order to protect honesty in research and scientific production, the Editorial Board reserves the right to use the Compilatio© tool, or other similar devices, to check for any situations of plagiarism or manipulation of quotes. In case of plagiarism, even partial, the proposed contribution will be rejected.

Contributions intended for the Study or Commentary sections are subjected to Double-Blind Peer Review procedure. The reviewers (referees) are chosen by the Editorial Board from among scholars of recognized expertise, guaranteeing their autonomy of judgment and the absence of conflicts of interest, in accordance with what is indicated in the Code of Ethics.

Authors submitting their contributions to Salesianum grant LAS Publishing House the rights to publish their contributions in the layout prepared by the publisher (Published version), making it available through websites as well.

The author agrees not to publish the peer-reviewed version of the text (Accepted version) in other journals, collections, or websites until 24 months have passed since its publication in Salesianum. In the case of republication or translation, the reference to the original publication in Salesianum must be included, with prior notification to This email address is being protected from spambots. The author may immediately make public on their personal website or the website of their affiliated institution the version of the text submitted to Salesianum prior to the referees’ comments (Submitted version).

By submitting a contribution to Salesianum, the author fully accepts the Journal’s Copyright, Publication, and Archiving Policy and commits to adhering to it.

Collaboration with Salesianum is free of charge. Authors are not required to pay for the referee service, nor for the electronic processing and publication of contributions.

If the author wishes to have his/her article published in open access mode, a payment of € 120 is required, to be paid before the date of publication of the issue.

Salesianum partially adopts the open access model.

All the studies published in Salesianum can be purchased individually on the Journal’s website, in pdf format. Subscribers have access to the entire archive of the Journal, for the duration of their subscription.

Some types of contributions (editorials, presentations, reviews) are usually published in open access. At the discretion of the Editorial Board, some particularly deserving studies may also be published in open access mode, in agreement with the author and free of charge.

All open access contributions are published by Salesianum under the license Creative Commons CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 gfglogo.

Salesianum grants authors the final digital version (pdf) of their contribution paginated with the publisher’s layout (Published version), for personal use only, unless the contribution is to be considered open access.

After the 24-month embargo period, authors may make the final version of their text — revised based on referee recommendations and formatted by the author (Accepted version) — publicly available on other non-commercial websites. They are required to indicate the full bibliographic details, URL, and DOI of the contribution published in Salesianum

For contributions published in open access, authors may immediately make the final version with the publisher’s layout (Published version) publicly available on other non-commercial websites, provided they include the URL and DOI of the contribution. 

Authors may immediately share the version of the text submitted to Salesianum prior to referee comments (Submitted version) on their personal or institutional websites. After publication, they are required to add the bibliographic details, URL, and DOI of the contribution. 

Authors are encouraged to disseminate their contributions on academic platforms (e.g., ResearchGate, PhilPapers, Academia.edu) by publishing the bibliographic details, abstract, a link to the corresponding page on the Salesianum website, and optionally a short preview of 1–2 pages. The publication of the refereed version (Accepted version) is permitted after the 24-month embargo period. Uploading the final version with the publisher’s layout (Published version) is allowed only if the contribution was published in open access.

No paid advertising space is provided. Within the limits of the space allowed by each issue, Salesianum hosts free advertisements for recently published works by the LAS publisher, the choice of which is up to the Director of LAS. Salesianum may occasionally host advertisements from other scientific journals of a similar nature, on a reciprocal basis.

Salesianum website does not host any advertising.

All the contents of the journal are archived on the digital archiving structure of the Salesian Pontifical University, for which redundant backup procedures are activated and distributed in different locations.

Salesianum is entirely printed on certified paper from responsibly manged sources.

Starting in 2024, Salesianum phased out the use of poly-laminated shipping envelopes, which are difficult to recycle, opting instead for shrink-wrapping polyethylene film, commonly recyclable with plastics.
