The world of academic journals is undergoing rapid change, spurred in part by the opportunities brought about by digital dissemination and the challenges it entails. In this context, managing an academic journal becomes a demanding task, requiring a balance between avoiding stagnation, and steering clear of reckless enthusiasm.
Moreover, the clear need to “build networks” among academic institutions (Pontifical and otherwise) has rendered obsolete the image of a journal as merely a “flagship” publication. Instead, it fosters the transformation into a qualified platform where scholars from diverse backgrounds can engage with the current state of research. From this perspective, a traditional journal like Salesianum, with its distinguished history, can today provide a stimulating and valuable service, that the current Editorial Board [in picture] aims to promote.
To this end, since 2023, each issue of Salesianum has included a thematic dossier aimed at convening scholars in a specific field, while still leaving space for individual studies resulting from research conducted at UPS and beyond.
The new website, updated with the standard functionalities now expected of an academic journal, represents a significant milestone in promoting Salesianum. This achievement required extensive effort and expertise, as well as considerable goodwill. Special thanks go to Giorgio Bonardi, Director of CeSIT, who skillfully and patiently created the digital infrastructure that supports the website.
We trust that this new tool will contribute to the dissemination of Salesianum and make the wealth of its contributions more easily accessible.
