Dal 1944 fino alla morte, nel 1974, il gesuita Jean Daniélou fu l’animatore del Circolo San Giovanni Battista di Parigi, un gruppo di formazione missionaria per giovani laici. Il metodo, i temi trattati, le attività del gruppo costituiscono un laboratorio per interpretare le istanze più significative per l’evangelizzazione. Al cuore dell’esperienza sta la consapevolezza dell’agire di Dio nella storia da cogliere con intelligenza teologica nelle culture e nelle religioni. L’incontro con persone di diverse culture e religioni presenti a Parigi e l’approfondimento di tematiche, grazie al coinvolgimento di esperti nel campo, accompagnarono per trent’anni tale esperienza della quale rimangono i numeri della  rivista prima Bulletin, poi Axes.

From 1944 until his death in 1974, Jesuit Jean Daniélou was the animator of the Circle of St. John the Baptist in Paris, a missionary formation group for young lay people. The group’s method, themes and activities constitute a workshop for interpreting the most significant instances of evangelisation. At the heart of the experience is the awareness of God’s action in history to be grasped with theological intelligence in cultures and religions. The meeting with people of different cultures and religions present in Paris and the in-depth study of themes, thanks to the involvement of experts in the field, accompanied this experience for thirty years, of which the issues of the magazine, first Bulletin, then Axes, remain.
