Questo studio si presenta come un’introduzione al problema del rapporto fra san Francesco di Sales e la filosofia. Esso parte, da un lato, dal presupposto che non solo in san Francesco di Sales si trovino dei concetti, ma anche che la sua opera intrattenga un preciso rapporto con la filosofia e, in particolare, con la metafisica; e, dall’altro, all’assunto metodologico secondo cui e possibile accertare lo statuto filosofico di un determinato corpus dottrinale attraverso la sua recezione filosofica successiva. Lo studio si propone pertanto di conferire al corpus salesiano uno statuto propriamente filosofico leggendolo alla luce di problematiche pascaliane e cartesiane, avanzando l’ipotesi ermeneutica secondo cui, in primo luogo, e staccandosi da un salesianismo iniziale che Pascal e diventato Pascal; e, in secondo luogo, che questo distacco e passato attraverso il concetto cartesiano di volonta ovvero attraverso la definizione cartesiana dell’amore.

This study is presented as an introduction to the problem of the relationship between St. Francis de Sales and Philosophy. It starts, on the one hand, from the assumption that not only that some philosophical concepts are found in St. Francis de Sales, but also that his work has a precise relationship with Philosophy, with Metaphysics in particular; and on the other, from the methodological assumption according to which it is possible to ascertain the philosophical status of a given doctrinal corpus through its subsequent philosophical reception. The study therefore proposes to give the Salesian corpus a specifically philosophical status by reading it in the light of Pascalian and Cartesian problems, advancing the hermeneutic hypothesis according to which, in the first place, it is by detaching himself from an initial “Salesianism” that Pascal became Pascal; and, secondly, that this detachment has passed through the Cartesian concept of will or through the Cartesian definition of love.
