In più di venti secoli di storia il Pantheon ha reso possibile variegate esperienze ai pellegrini e turisti, cittadini e stranieri, curiosi e studiosi. L’esperienza nello spazio sacro-profano del Pantheon è configurata non solo da quanto viene svolto come ritualità sacra e turistica-culturale attualmente, e da ciò che la struttura rappresenta storicamente ed archeologicamente, ma anche dalla motivazione e dall’identità biografica, culturale e religiosa dei visitatori. La domanda teologico-pratica di fondo che poniamo è: i visitatori, con la loro presenza e movimenti corporei dentro lo spazio sacro-profano, come costruiscono la loro esperienza in un processo ermeneutico che comprende vari livelli: il livello più fondamentale di consapevolezza, quello dello abitare lo spazio, della ricettività estetica, e, infine, dell’elaborazione interculturale nella prospettiva diacronica e sincronica.

Over the long duration of twenty centuries the Pantheon has made possible varied experiences for pilgrims and tourists, citizens and foreigners, curious visitors and scholars. The experience in the sacred-profane space of the Pantheon is configured not only by what goes on as a sacred and tourist-cultural ritual currently, and by what the structure represents historically and archaeologically, but also by the motivation and the biographical, cultural and religious identity of the visitors. The basic theological-practical question we pose is: the visitors with their bodily presence and movement within the sacred-profane space, how do they construct their experience in a hermeneutic process that comprises various levels: the most fundamental level of consciousness, that of dwelling in a space, that of aesthetic receptivity, and finally, that of intercultural elaboration in the diachronic and synchronic perspective.
